Much the same as different understudies, Al Capone went to a state funded school yet lamentably the instructors in these schools were somewhat unforgiving to worker understudies and would utilize physical power to teach them and Al Capone being one of them as his family had relocated to USA from the Old Country, was subsequently no exception[1].Specifically, Al Capone didn't have a decent connection with his school’s organization and in this manner they were continually running into each other something that definitely influenced his evaluations. After at some point, his relationship with instructors decayed to a level to such an extent that he was dispersed from school and that denoted an incredible finish in school[2].Though backhanded, his profession got a significant lift when his dad moved his family to 21 Garfield Place. This movement allowed Al Capone a chance to join neighborhood road packs, for example, the Forty Thieves Ju niors and the Brooklyn Rippers where he met different criminals, for example, Johny Torrio and Lucky Luciano[3].Having worked for James Street posse and Five focuses group, Al Capone increased a few abilities in ‘street smarts’ making him to be qualified as a barkeep and a bouncer in a whorehouse in Brooklyn possessed by Torrio and Frankie Yale.As a bouncer, he would abuse individuals for instance; he broke the legs, arms and even skulls of the individuals who were regarded to be disorganized. It was while functioning as a bouncer in this house of ill-repute that Al Capone earned his name the scarface after being assaulted and sliced by Frank Gallucio after he offended her sister in spite of the fact that he would later lie that he was harmed in the Great War in France[4].It is in 1919 that he was captured just because right off the bat for confused lead and furthermore for a homicide situation where he executed a man inâ 1918 however luckily for Al Capone, according to ganglands’ standards or behaviors, no one affirmed possibly in support of him and consequently he was not gone after for this homicide. To maneuver down the strain that had developed, Yale who had been welcomed by his uncle Jim Colosimo in Chicago welcomed Al Capone to remain with him for some time. This time corresponded with when the Prohibition Act was in force.Torrio was in conflict with his uncle since he needed his uncle to set out on bootlegging something that he was completely restricted. At this point his uncle whoring business had just amassed enough benefit and along these lines he didn't see the need to enhance. Torrio began considering his to be as a hindrance and in this manner thought of how he would dispense with him. With the assistance of Al Capone, the crucial executed and they assumed control over the business[5].While working for this posse, Al Capone helped his group to thrive and stretched out its relations to another pack association known as Colosi mo crowd. These associations in a single manner or the other assisted Al Capone with becoming the man he was.The explanation behind this is following five years of his administration, Torrio inadvertently got injured and might no longer lead the posse consequently moving its initiative to Al Capone. Under his initiative, the posse turned into the most dreaded and fruitful and any individual who tested its authority was killed. Because of their savagery, they had the option to vanquish over hordes that capitulated to their dangers or supplications. Those that would not move to their tunes were smothered by utilization of power and an a valid example is the Dion O’Bannon’s slaughtering endeavor, the Irish Northern Side pack in 1924.According to Oregon Coast Magazine, as opposed to the desires for Torrio and Al Capone, the inability to assume control over this posse got into a tricky situation as from that point on the two groups never observed each other to eye and this finished to the shootings that left Torrio seriously harmed. In 1926, he was busy again and was captured in association with killing of three people where he went through just a single night in prison just to be discharged for absence of enough evidence[6].[1] Pasley, Fred D. Blog Archive Use Conflict in Your Essays, but Avoid Repetitive Techniques

Blog Archive Use Conflict in Your Essays, but Avoid Repetitive Techniques When you are writing a compelling story, conflict can be a very important element. Of course, we mean conflict in the literary rather than the physical or emotional sense (no one wants to hear about how you hotheadedly instigated a confrontation). In literary terms, conflict occurs at the moment an oppositional force helps shape the central story. So, a narrative that presents youâ€"the candidate and hero of the storyâ€"experiencing an effortless ride toward victory would not typically be as interesting or exciting as one in which you suffered some bumps and bruises along the way. For example, most people would find the story of a rookie challenger beating an experienced marathon runner at the finish line a lot more compelling than the story of a runner who leads the race by a wide margin from beginning to end and never experiences any competition. Although you might not have an anecdote like this in your arsenal, our point is that whether you are telling the story of refining a supply chain, getting a deal done, marketing a new product, or accomplishing any other facet of business, you should identify and share the hurdles you overcame in doing so, because describing a time when you enjoyed a smooth and easy path to success may not allow you to shine as brightly. Like conflict, structure is also an important element in your writing. Many applicants find writing to be a challenge, and some have particular difficulty changing the structure from one essay to the next. For example, a candidate might choose to use a quote at the beginning of an essay to create a sense of urgency: “This cannot be fixed. This cannot be fixed!” I stared blankly at the broken machinery and knew that the next few hours would be crucial… Using this kind of attention-grabbing technique is certainly acceptable, but you should never use the same technique more than once in an application. By starting more than one essay in the same manner, you are effectively sending the admissions reader the message that you understand how to use a gimmick but not how to tell a compelling story in your own way. This is also a quick way to lose the reader’s interest! So be sure to vary your approach with each new essay within a single application. We work with our candidates to ensure that their ideas are presented in fresh and different ways, to captivate the admissions committee with each introduction and, indeed, each essay. Feminist Critique And Institutional Critique - 2079 Words

Introduction The museum in modern society is no longer a place for an unchallenged authority to civilize the barbaric masses, but instead a place fraught with conflicting views. Numerous artists and activists’ groups are performing critiques on museums for the ways they are still upholding anachronistic ideals and remain hegemonic, privileged, and patriarchal intuitions in society. This paper will be looking at these issues through the lens of Feminist critique and Institutional critique. This paper will analyse how Feminist art is de-contextualized and commercialized for use in museum spaces eliminating much of its radical meaning, and the limited successes and the failures of Instructional critique. This paper argues that while both Feminist and Institutional critiques are de-radicalized by being held within institutions, the critically specific and activist nature of feminist critique allows it to retain more power than Institutional critique. Feminist and Institutional cri tique will be contextualized by a case study in The Tate Modern museum, specifically the â€Å"Media Networks† gallery. The Tate Modern The Tate Modern stands proud and impressive on London’s Southbank. However, small scale firms hardly employ this kind of software since these are not properly structured and are very intricate transactions cannot be recorded using these software. Medium End Accounting Software Medium end accounting software is generally adopted by corporation to meet their basic requirements that include preparation of pecuniary reports, recording, documenting and presenting daily business transactions and many others (Sari et al. 2015). This type of software is necessarily appropriate for particularly the double entry system and this is the primary reason why different small as well as medium scale firms implement such kind of accounting software High End Accounting Software A high end accounting software is necessarily fitting for diverse types of accounting procedures and recording different intricate business transactions. It can be witnessed majority of the large transnational firms implement this kind of system of accounting as this high end software are essentially built using advanced technology with greater potency of recoding all kinds of financial transactions. Essentially, the output generated by this process and software of accounting is particularly useful for these types of large scale firms. As such this is the primary reason why greater amount of cost is borne by firms for the purpose of application of this high end software. Particularly, small as well as medium scale firms fail to implement this software because of the huge cost requirements as well as necessity for human resource (Abduljalil and Zainuddin 2015). Selection of fitting software Relative comparison of accounting software package The business concern B Bakery can implement certain accounting packages. The accounting packages might be in different forms that include MYOB or else DacEasy and many others. Thus, it is important for the corporation to compare different software packages in a bid to select a fitting software package. However, the comparison between different software can be carried out founded on different components such as capacity of recording and documenting specific number of documentation, payment associated framework of the employees, functional expends, risk as well as sustainability, time scheduling, understanding complexities and sundry creditors as well as creditors among many others (Ibrahim 2013). Thus, the comparison between specific software is as presented below: Capability of recording suitable number of data MYOB is capable to registering and recording suitable number of data within a specific system. Besides this, MYOB can also present output in a swift manner after providing input. However, this is principally due to the fact that the software contains a button present on each and every page at the time when input is given. Contrarily, DacEasy also utilizes a specific index to discover the requisite information on the devices screen. Essentially, both the software is capable of recording suitable number of requisite information and documents, although the process is entirely different (Rahman et al. 2015). Operating Expends The operating cost and the cost of implementation of both of these software can be categorised as either medium or else high end accounting software. As such, the single version of this software is comparatively less costly, while the multiple version of these software is relatively more costly. Thus, it depends entirely on the specific corporation that decides the software that they need to be used for undertaking operating actions (Simkin et al. 2014). Structure related to disbursement to the employees In essence, there exists a difference between particularly the MYOB, DacEasy as well as Xero based on the framework of payment of the employees. Mancini et al. (2015) asserts that the software DacEasy is quite useful when considered in terms of effectiveness of depositing salaries of the members of the staff of the corporation. Additionally, the accounting software also assists in the process of classification of the entire amount of tax liability that needs to be paid. Again, on the other hand, it can be said that the accounting software XERO is extremely helpful when considered in terms of effectiveness of system of mechanized bank reconciliation. Besides this, MYOB is useful for the purpose of creation of different types of alternatives to monitor and control the entire salary process as well as tax pay off system of the members of the staff of the corporation (Tazik and Mohamed 2014). Risk as well as sustainability It can be hereby mentioned that all the above mentioned software is necessarily free of any kind of error and is sustainable at the same time depending on the overall potential of all the users (Prasad and Green 2015). Additionally, administration of the business entity B Bakery also has the need to develop the overall speciality before managing the software. Time Scheduling and intricacies Essentially, XERO has successfully provided easy online accounting dealings, yet, the initial procedure is a bit intricate. Again, DacEasy is also useful for users for simple operations (Diatmika et al. 2016). Contrarily, the function of the software MYOB is exceedingly simple and can be comprehended by individuals having basic knowledge on accounting as well as bookkeeping. Flexibility XERO can be considered to be very flexible and it functions on improved payrolls of different third parties. Again, DacEasy also generates nearly fifty reports and cannot be regarded to be very flexible, while, MYOB can be regarded as exceedingly flexible and has a potential to generate over and above 175 reports (Du et al. 2015). Sundry creditors as well as debtors Adenike and Michael (2016) assert that MYOB backs the system of e-payments as well as e-receipts and helps in the process of billing of different creditors along with suppliers. Contrarily, it can be hereby mentioned that DacEasy primarily functions in the process of printing cheques and enumeration of different quotes of diverse purchase order. Essentially, Xero helps in creation of purchase orders and present claims of different expends when considered in terms if creditors (Wijaya et al. 2015). Selection of suitable vendor The bakery firm have the need to select an apt accounting software package that can serve the purpose of operating different business functions. This system needs to be simple so that it can be applied in a successful way. MYOB can be adopted since it has the potential to develop a broad range of pronouncements that is fitting for diverse functionalities of the business. Besides this, MYOB manages different credit functions that can suit the style of business functions (Salehi et al. 2010). However, these features are not obtainable in case of software such as DacEasy as well as Xero. Transfer facility is present in MYOB and is not present on other software. However, Xero can enumerate the mechanized bank reconciliation assertions whilst MYOB aids in enumeration of costs of inventory using mechanisms of LIFO and FIFO. The corporation B Bakery can develop its operations by means of producing reports that essentially MYOB produces. Besides this, the security level of the corporation can be improved with apposite execution of software (Romney and Steinbart 2012). Conclusion In conclusion it can be hereby mentioned that it is extremely important for business entities to enhance their operations. The corporation B bakery is expected to develop their operations and attain strategic objectives with the implementation of the accounting software MYOB. This can also assist the corporation in improving the security issues and gaining access to customers invoices. The corporation can attain success by evaluating different reports of various vendor and this can again aid the corporation to apply effectual pricing and distribution strategy founded on the outcomes. A Close Look at the Singapore Math Method

A Close Look at the Singapore Math Method One of the harder things parents have to do when it comes to their child’s schooling is understand a new method of learning. As the Singapore Math Method gains popularity, it’s starting to be used in more schools across the nation, leaving more parents to figure out what this method is all about. A close look at the philosophy and framework of Singapore Math can make it easier to understand what’s going on in your child’s classroom. The Singapore Math Framework The framework of Singapore Math is developed around the idea that learning to problem-solve and develop mathematical thinking are the key factors in being successful in math. The framework states: â€Å"The development of mathematical problem-solving ability is dependent on five inter-related components, namely, Concepts, Skills, Processes, Attitudes, and Metacognition.†Looking at each component individually makes it easier to understand how they fit together to help children gain skills that can help them solve both abstract and real-world problems. 1. Concepts When children learn mathematical concepts, they are exploring the ideas of branches of math like numbers, geometry, algebra, statistics and probability, and data analysis. They’re not necessarily learning how to work the problems or the formulas that go with them, but rather gaining an in-depth understanding of what all of these things represent and look like. It’s important for kids to learn that all of math works together and that, for example, addition doesn’t stand by itself as an operation, it carries on and is a part of all the other math concepts as well. Concepts are reinforced using math manipulatives and other practical, concrete materials. 2. Skills Once students have a solid grasp of the concepts, it’s time to move on to learning how to work with those concepts. In other words, once the students have an understanding of the ideas, they can learn the procedures and formulas that go with them. This way the skills are anchored to the concepts, making it easier for students to understand why a procedure works. In Singapore Math, skills don’t just refer to knowing how to work something out with pencil and paper, but also knowing what tools (calculator, measurement tools, etc.) and technology can be used to help solve a problem. 3. Processes The framework explains that processes â€Å"includes reasoning, communication and connections, thinking skills and heuristics, and application and modeling.†    Mathematical reasoning is the ability to look carefully at mathematical situations in a variety of different contexts and logically apply the skills and concepts to problem-solve the situation. Communication is the ability to clearly, concisely and logically use the language of math to explain ideas and mathematical arguments. Connections is the ability to see how math concepts are related to each other, how math is related to other areas of study and how math relates to real life. Thinking skills and heuristics are the skills and techniques that can be used to solve a problem. Thinking skills include things like sequencing, classifying and identifying patterns. Heuristics are the experience-based techniques a child can use to create a representation of a problem, take an educated guess, figure out the process to work through a problem or how to reframe a problem. For example, a child may draw a chart, try to guess and check or solve parts of a problem. These are all learned techniques. Application and modelling is the ability to use what you’ve learned about how to solve problems to choose the best approaches, tools and representations for a certain situation. It’s the most complicated of the processes and takes a lot of practice for children to create math models. 4. Attitudes Children’s are what they think and feel about math. Attitudes are developed by what their experiences with learning math are like. So, a child who has fun while developing a good understanding of concepts and acquiring skills is more likely to have positive ideas about the importance of math and confidence in his ability to solve problems. 5. Metacognition Metacognition sounds really simple but is harder to develop than you might think. Basically, metacognition is the ability to think about how you are thinking. For kids, this means not only being aware of what they are thinking, but also knowing how to control what they are thinking. In math, metacognition is closely tied to being able to explaining what was done to solve it, thinking critically about how the plan works and thinking about alternative ways to approach the problem. The framework of Singapore Math is definitely complicated, but it’s also definitely well thought out and thoroughly defined. Whether you’re an advocate for the method or not so sure about it, a better understanding of the philosophy is key in helping your child with math.

The early life of Karl Marx essays

The early life of Karl Marx essays Karl Marxs early life was extremely important in shaping the way he thought about society and governments and what he thought could make them better, and his experiences and up-bringing made him a pro-communist writer and believer. Karl Marx was born on May 5th in the year 1818. He was born in the small town of Trier, Germany. Trier is located in Western Germany near France and is considered the most French-like city of Germany. Trier was built by the Romans and lies in the heart of the wine region which makes vineyards the principal business of Trier. The city numbered some 12,000 people back in Marxs time. Trier was once part of Napoleons empire, but was incorporated into Prussia by 1815. Western Germany was mostly inhabited by the Jewish. Many Jews converted to Catholicism due to the Jewish faith not being liked by government leaders. Marx was born into a middle-class Jewish family. His mother and father were both Jewish. His father, being the head of the family, converted to Catholicism. Judaism was not accepted especially for the father of the family. Judaism was passed down by Marxs grandfather being a Rabbi and a faithful Jew. Marxs mother refused to convert to Catholicism, but allowed all seven of her children to be baptized. The Jews had benefited greatly from Napoleons activities. Napoleons activities had broken many of the barriers that had made the Jewish Ghetto . Jews were included more throughout society. Napoleons defeat hurt the Jews and brought back the Ghetto . It also made many of them convert to Catholicism because of the fear of being persecuted and the fact that the German Princes were not nice to the Jews. Also many anti-Jewish lies were made in 1816, so Marxs father took the name Heinrich Marx and was accepted into the Catholic church in 1817. Heinrich was not a genius but he was an intelligent person. One of Karls quotes ...

THE LEVEL OF EMPLOYEE SATISFACTION AND COMMITMENT AT LLOYDS TSB BANK Dissertation

THE LEVEL OF EMPLOYEE SATISFACTION AND COMMITMENT AT LLOYDS TSB BANK (FRONT DESK STAFF) - Dissertation Example Employee satisfaction is absolutely necessary among front desk staff especially those working in investment banks or other sales related companies as they represent an organization and bring in a greater portion of the revenue. The purpose of this study is to measure the employee satisfaction levels among Lloyds TSB front desk staff, one of the leading banks of UK. A questionnaire based survey was conducted and it was found that although the pay package and benefits provided by the bank were quite attractive, employee satisfaction was average among the Lloyds TSB front desk staff. An analysis of the questionnaire using popular satisfaction/motivation theories revealed that along with money other factors such as communication with the employees, respect and recognition and appreciation are also important. It was found that hard HRM is mostly practiced in Lloyds Bank TSB branches and hence it is recommended that a blend of both hard and soft HRM should be applied in order to improve th e employee satisfaction levels. ... ies 15 2.3 Maslow’s Theory 16 2.4 Herzberg’s Two Factor Theory 18 2.5 Alderfer’s ERG Theory 19 2.5.1 Using Alderfer’s ERG Theory at Workplace 20 2.6 Vroom’s Theory of Expectancy 20 2.6.1 Applying Vroom’s Expectancy Theory in an Organization 21 2.7 Locke’s Path Goal Theory 21 2.8 Studies on Employee Satisfaction 22 2.9 Theoretical Framework 24 3.RESEARCH METHODOLOGY 26 3.1 Research Philosophies 26 3.2 Research Design 27 3.3 Data Sources 28 3.4 Data Collection Tools 28 3.5 Sampling Strategy and Sample Size 29 3.6 Data Analysis 31 3.7 Validity and Reliability Concerns 32 3.8 Ethical Considerations 33 4.FINDINGS 34 4.1 Section A: Demographics 34 4.2 Section B: Human Resource Policies 37 4.3 Section C: Job satisfaction at Lloyd’s bank 43 4.4 Section D: Employee Training and Development Practices 48 4.5 Section E: Performance and Evaluation 48 4.6 Section F: Compensation 49 4.7 Section G: Employee Retention 51 4.8 Section H: Employee Commitment 52 5.DISCUSSION AND ANALYSIS 54 5.1 Analysis 56 6.CONCLUSION 59 6.1 Recommendations 61 6.2 Revisiting Aims and Objectives 62 6.3 Research Limitations and Future Research Scope 63 References 64 Appendix- I 73 THE LEVEL OF EMPLOYEE SATISFACTION AND COMMITMENT AT LLOYDS TSB BANK (FRONT DESK STAFF) 1. INTRODUCTION Employee satisfaction is commonly defined as the measure of how happy and content an employee is with his/her job and working environment (Kennet & Salini 2011). It has been observed that at times even though the package offered to the employee is good, the employees become discouraged and resign from their jobs. Certain factors like limited growth opportunity, lack of appreciation and recognition, high job stress and even lack of communication within the organization discourage and frustrate an employee. According to the views of Irina Barbalova who is the head of the beauty and personal care research at euromonitor tried to throw light upon the current global consumers trends for the personal care and beauty. According to her opinion, rise in the beauty as well as personal care sales in the year 2010 has been evidenced. It was further noted that the consumers returned back to the premium cosmetics since the recession for the first time. The reason behind this phenomenon has been the product innovation that took place in the premium segment. It can be revealed that the regions that saw a decline in the premium cosmetics in the year 2009 observed a recovery in the year 2010. It has been the hi-tech innovation supporting the premium segment recovery which spread to the mass segment and private label thus providing the customers with a better value for money (Euromonitor International, 2011). 1b. Sex difference and mathematical reasoning Essay Example for Free

Sex difference and mathematical reasoning Essay The main aim of the study was to determine whether mathematical reasoning is influence by sex of a person due to inconsiderate admission criteria that was adopted in United States for awarding scholarships to students irrespective of sex. In order to achieve this, the study selected sample population from both genders for students who were 13 years and above. The study was a result of the argument that males tend to dominate in mathematical aptitude test, which was evidenced by John Hopkins talent search in 1971 to 1979. Hence, Benbow and Stanley had to carry out this study to prove whether the argument was true and whether there was link between sex and ability to have good mathematical reasoning. Benbow and Stanley in this study investigated sex difference at the high level possible of the mathematical reasoning ability. The study was started by first identifying two groups of students who had the best mathematical reasoning from various mathematical aptitude test that they had taken. The study adopted two procedures where the first one involved identification and selection of students who took part in John Hopkins talent searches campaign from 1980 to 1982 (Benbow, Stanley, 1983). The students who were found to have the highest intellectual ability and below 13 years were given college Scholarship aptitude test, (SAT) to determine their mathematical reasoning. Consequently, the second procedure involved conducting nation-wide talent search and selecting those students who were below 13 years and were willing to take SAT. The results of this study indicated that students who were 13 years of age and below had high mathematical reasoning as evidenced by high scores in SAT, the mathematical part of the test. In addition, the results found that males scored far much high compared to females and thus support the prediction of the study that sex difference play important part in mathematical reasoning for children below 13 years. The evidence from the study indicated that those who scored 400 marks in SAT, males were more than female in the ratio of 1.51:1 and those who scored 600 marks or more the boys to girsl ration was 4.1:1, which showed that males had better mathematical reasoning compared to girls at the age of 13 (Benbow, Stanley, 1983). Consequently, nationwide talent search had the similar results with boy to girls’ ratio increasing to 12.6:1 for those that score 700 marks or more. The significance level Null distribution is the study probability distribution when null hypothesis is considered and regarded to be true. This means that null hypothesis it proved using null distributions. In this case, the alternative hypothesis is rejected. However, where the study does not support the null hypothesis, the said concludes by rejecting the null hypothesis at a given level of significance. Therefore, 0.05 significance means that the null hypothesis was rejected at 95% level of significance. The standard deviation error helps to determine the level of unbiased data and results of a given study and thus it becomes very important in any study. In this study, the standard error was important to determine the level of errors and thus improve the level of data reliability. Similarly, the confidence interval is used as the measure of reliability of the estimates obtained in the study. This helps to indentify if the data is misleading or within the significance level. Factors that Negatively Effect Fetal Development Essay -- essays resea

Factors that Negatively Effect Fetal Development Pregnant women that smoke cigarettes on a daily basis can greatly harm their fetus. The Tobacco smoke in cigarettes greatly reduces fetal growth through the presence of nicotine, carbon monoxide, hydrogen cyanide, cadmium and various other aromatic hydrocarbons, but the two most dangerous chemicals that are found in cigarettes are nicotine and carbon monoxide. Nicotine causes the babies heart rate to speed up, reduces placental vascularisation, constricts the placental arteries, and thickens the endothelium of placental blood vessels. This creates a reduction in the placental blood flow, and further reductions in oxygen delivery. As well nicotine interferes with the ability of the placenta to feed the baby the nutrients it requires. Therefore the babies growth is slowed down. Carbon monoxide causes growing cells to be starved of oxygen, and effects the brain. This can lead to a low birth weight and higher chance of the baby dying at birth. Smoking is the single largest modifiable( ch angeable) risk factor in fetal growth retardation. Maternal smoking during pregnancy is also associated with genetic defects as well as an increased incidence of congenital malformations such as cleft palates, microcephalus, and clubfoot. Mothers who smoke one pack a day during pregnancy have an 85% increased risk of having a child with mental retardation. Mothers that smoke during their pregnancy have double the chance of having a child with behavural problems. Another one of the biggest factors that disrupts fetal growth and development is alcohol. This is a very common substance abuse of pregnant women. Everytime the pregnant mother is drinking, her fetus is also drinking. The alcohol crosses the placental barrier, and goes directly into the fetus's liver. The ethanol found in alcohol may impair the nutrient support of the fetus. Acetaldehyde, a major metabolite, crosses the placenta and is teratogenic. Since the alcohol stays in the fetus for a long time, the small liver is unable to metabolize the alcohol. The alcohol also travels through the blood stream going directly to the baby's brain, and this can damage the central nervous system. The common, severe, and hazardous side effect that happens to the fetus because of alcohol is Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. This is a very serious side effect that has lasting and sometimes ... ...e the death of the fetus. Pregnant women should distant themselves from heavy metals. such as, lead and methyl mercury which can harm the fetus. All pregnant women should be aware and cautious about contacting a disease. Some of the diseases are fatal and very hazardous to the fetus, while some only have minor effects on the fetus. Many of the diseases contacted by pregnant mothers are sexually contacted diseases. Some examples of these diseases are Aids, and Gonorrhea. There are also other non-related diseases such as, Rubella, and Toxoplasmolisis and, which can affect the fetus.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Toxoplasmolisis is a bacterial infection. This is a parasitic disease that can effect the fetus, by causing growth retardation. Another harmful disease that can affect the fetus is Rubella or otherwise called German Measles. Pregnant woman that have Rubella during the first trimester can effect the fetus and cause a syndrome of birth defects called congenital rubella syndrome. This can cause deafness, cataracts, congenital heart disease, and mental retardation. In conclusion, pregnant women should try to avoid all substances that can be potentially harmful to the fetus within them.

Thomas Hardy’s View on Time

In hardy's poems time is not constant or limited by a forward direction of time passing nor the vertical view of time. time is a landscape or location upon which we view the different vantage points and aspects of it, and consequently he has given locations the characteristics of time. The journey through locations is constant and forward moving but as in time you can access memories but revisiting them in your mind, or in hardy's sense, by revisiting the location. ou are not locked in time as you are in reality, hardy rewinds time as he chooses and sees what he saw at any period in his life but only when at the location. This comes through in â€Å"after a journey† when hardy revisits a cave and the echo from his previous visit their still remained, as if no time had passed, â€Å"and the cave just under, with a voice still so hollow that it seems to call out to me from forty years ago† Hardy's subconscious is so active that by revisiting a place, any memories from the re reawaken and occupy the scene. In the first stanza of ‘where the picnic was' we are in hardy's memory at the early stages of assumedly Emma and hardy's marriage, when the ‘fire' was still young and strong in their relationship. Hardy is describing a place they went in the summer time. towards the end of the stanza we are indicated that there has been a change and time is allowed to show what is in front of him then juxtaposition is introduced and we are rapidly in this new, dull and derelict scene but the location has not changed. The time jump shows where hardy really is in his life journey. Reminding him that can although he can see all these different vantage points of a landscape there is always on true outcome the present giving time a personality and the ability to ridicule. This relates to â€Å"after a journey† where   Time is personified â€Å"despite Time's derision† time is given a character that in a way as if to taunt Hardy for wanting so mu ch to access old layers of time . Emphasising that time has the ultimate power and control and can not be completely defied
